Recap from Feb 2nd Sunday "Solomon" Sermon

Mike preached this Sunday on "King Solomon" - watch the sermon on YouTube. He highlighted three "Red Flags" we need to be aware of in our spiritual lives:

  1.  “Doing” rather than “Being”
  2. Talk to someone about spiritual formation
  3. Having Errant Priorities
  4. How can you prioritize God this week?
  5. Led by Passion/Feelings
  6. What boundaries do you need?

The VCOC Mental Health Ministry has been set up to "educate, support, and empower those living with mental health challenges and their supporters, using empathy and compassion to strengthen our faith community." This ministry will be offering "safe spaces for education sessions, support groups, discussions, opportunities to participate in a series of sessions from Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries (a free online program open to everyone), and guidance towards community resources. They do not however offer counselling, diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition.

Active Listening Midweeks

In a world that is increasingly chaotic and stressful, we all have a desperate need to be seen and heard. Taking care of our mental/spiritual health is crucial, not only for ourselves, but for everyone around us. With humble hearts, we believe every member can benefit from learning about/practicing active listening in a compassionate way.

Join us for a series of 2 midweeks (online) to learn the importance of holding space and actively listening with friends and family who are struggling with mental health issues. Join at the Zoom links below (same links for both sessions):

  • February 5th - 7:30pm-8:30pm on Zoom
  • February 19th- 7:30pm-8:30pm on Zoom

Prayer Requests

  • Erin and Harvey - Thank you everyone for your prayers for Erin and Harvey's surgeries for the kidney transplant. Please continue to pray for them for healing and to be pain free, especially for Erin. Good news is that Harvey is doing well and transplant almost instantly made him look years younger! Colour is back in his face which is remarkable, but please keep praying for him as he is struggling with some pain and exhaustion.  The whole St Jean family is grateful for your prayers!
  • Ian's mom - please pray for her as she is back in hospital and having trouble with breathing, congestion.
